How is Synvisc Different from other
treatments for Osteoarthritis of the Knee?

There are many ways to treat osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. When you are first diagnosed, your physician will recommend a diet, exercise and medication regimen in order to relieve the pain and inflammation in your knees. If those don’t give you adequate pain relief, your doctor may recommend Synvisc injections to relieve you of your knee pain.

Synvisc is a medication that is injected into the knee where pain, swelling and/or fluid buildup is around the knee. Synvisc injections provide up to 6 months of osteoarthritis knee pain relief with just 3 injections, given one week apart. Synvisc replaces damaged knee fluid with a substance similar to normal joint fluid. It acts as a knee “lubricant”.
